Independence Day

The Good News is we are part of communities that really celebrate the 4th. The Bad News is trying to enjoy it all. Both Taylor (my home town) and Eagar (my current residence) are masters in their Independence Day festivities. Taylor has a 5AM firing of the anvil, 10AM Patriotic Program; Eagar has an awesome parade. This year we had to split the celebrating. We went to a 6AM program at the Hamblin's - Travis had to give a few thoughts. Then I drove to Taylor for their program because my sister Bonnie was performing, and I have played in the band for over 25 years. It was a very stirring program. The fam enjoyed the parade and BBQ with friends/family. At sundown we sat on the UPPER DECK and watched the fireworks. We could see the Lyman Lake show, the town's and every other family in the valley private showing. - The view we have is the best!

Check out this incredible float - Who needs to go to NYC?
It was built on a fork lift and could descend to pass under electrical lines. Bro Goodman had been working on it since Christmas. (yes, I changed the photo, mine was from my cell phone at 6am when it went by the Hamblins, I like this one better. Thanks to MF)

A little bit about the Taylor program. This was the 50th year Bro Lenn Shumway had conducted the band. His music has been the foundation of the program, bringing the spirit of patriotism as we played the military songs and anthems. This year we played one of his arrangements that included the songs from each of the military groups - Marines, Air Force, Army and Navy. Members of these forces stood as their songs was played- GOOSEBUMP TIME. Thank you Bro. Shumway! Thank you soldiers and veterans! Then my sister Bonnie sang the most incredible song about the flag. She had 50 kids in the room singing with her and holding flags as well as a slide show of flags. It was amazing!
