Water Dogs

One last hurrah for the summer - Labor Day Weekend!!!

Who cares if Lyman doesn't have the crystal clear water?
We love it anyway.
And for the record, even though no one took a picture, I was out there too.

Comma or not?

I can't decide on . . .
Ho Hum, Summer's over.
OR
Ho Hum Summer's over.

Because of the plane crash, we were basically here all summer.
WORKING
Of course outside on the yard.
It is a never ending process of keeping the weeds in check.

I should have taken a picture of the kids on their bikes -
riding them to practice at the dome every day
(It's 3 miles one way - talk about Ho Hum)

Of course, there were some other projects we needed to work on too.

Okay, maybe we did play some,

And sit on the deck and enjoy the evenings,
And have Family TAKE DOWNS!

And practice up on essential skills,

And welcome a new batch of kittens,

And enjoy getting out on the lake. - the BIG one.
(Family Trivia - When the kids were little, they thought we were just calling it a big lake.)

Alright, maybe this summer wasn't so Ho Hum after all.
KEEPIN' THE COMMA.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Coming into town, Escudilla (10,800 ft) is always calling to us - "Come enjoy the view."
Of course Trav has been up there hunting many times,
and we have taken the dogs to Terry Flat,
but never been to the top. . . until now.

The Aspen groves were gorgeous. . . .

as were the many wildflowers.
There were red, blue, white, yellow, purple, pink, . . .
Can you believe all the ladybugs?!
The meadows were not only beautiful and lush,
but the times when we could get a glimpse of how far the kids were ahead of us.
The lookout tower . . .cool.
The guardian was burning incense and had stories to tell.
We passed a few other hikers. They were patient with Jag's friendliness.
This photo was our first time using the timer on this camera -
Yeah, I know I look like a dork, but let me tell you,
that walking stick was a great help on the steep grade.

Mitchell was prepped for self-defense with his "gun"

Jag probably covered 12 miles while we did the 6 mile trail.
He was running back and forth, here and there.
and loved every minute.
Check it off the bucket list.

When you come to TOWN

Ya, we live in a small town. Nowhere near any other civilization. So what is there to do if you come to our neck of the woods? (This is literal - I mean, throw a rock and hit the National Forest.)
Well, go down to the Little Colorado -
Look for crawdads

Play fetch with the dog at the pond
Try to catch a fish or something.
Get your COOL cousin to give you a ride in his COOL truck
Rope a bullfrog - watch your Uncle kiss it.
Eat corn on the cob
Play football in the yard
Ride in the back of a pickup
(Don't worry Tennille, it was just going across the street to Aunt Karma's)

Torment your cousins
Get soaked in a parade
Get candy at the parade
(Of course Ronan was prepared with a baggie)

Remember that even though it is cooler, you are closer to the sun - so slap on some screen.
Go to the pioneer "camporama" down the road in SJ.
Eat scrambled eggs you helped collect from the coop.
Roast Marshmellows.
In short - have a great time.
Y'all come back now, Ya hear!!!!
